- Sprite gummy worm popsicles are a delicious, cold treat, perfect for a sweltering day, and it doesn’t take much effort! Just pour some Sprite or whatever soda you’d like into a popsicle mold, then put in some gummy worms or any candy of choice. Freeze, and then enjoy. You can also make summer themed cake pops – these also take little effort. Use leftover cake batter (or if you don’t have any, you can make some). For the full summery vibe, you can shape the batter into fun shapes, such as little sunglasses or ocean animals. Dip it in melted, colored chocolate, add some decorations such as sprinkles to it to make it look cuter (optional), freeze, and then enjoy.
- Build a “summer spot” in your backyard! Pick a shady spot under a tree and set up a hammock – or you can just sit in the tree, whatever you feel the most comfortable with. To make it cozy, you can decorate the tree with fairy lights or put some blankets and pillows in your hammock, if you’re using one. If you don’t have access to an outdoor space, try finding a cozy corner in your house you can stock with plush blankets and pillows. Grab your favorite book, a cold drink and/or some yummy snacks (for snack ideas, look above).
- Volunteer for community service! It’s never too early to get a head start on your community service. Some popular options are helping at the SPCA, or volunteering at a beach cleanup.
- Try a new sport! Try something easily accessible, like volleyball or football. For example, with volleyball, you can play against the wall or with a family member – and all you need is a ball!
- Press flowers! Flower pressing is a fun activity that you can do in a few minutes, with pretty results. The most basic method is with a heavy, flat item such as a book and your favorite flowers. Place them in between a couple layers of absorbent paper, and then place the heavy item on top to add weight. After about 24 hours, change the paper, because it will soak up moisture and become damp. This is really fun and easy and it makes good decorations to put on your wall or in a jar.
- Start a lemonade stand! Find a picnic table and you can make a homemade sign out of cardboard and some markers. Go to a park or any local area and make a pitcher or two of some delicious cold lemonade or any treat that you like to make. Anyone will appreciate a quick treat on a hot summer day. You can even charge for your treats! It’s a fun way to make a little extra cash.
- Binge shows! One foolproof way for having a good night in the summertime is to watch something fun. This is even better with friends! You can choose a favorite show that you’ve already watched, or a new show that looks interesting. Some of our favorite binge-worthy rewatches with summer vibes (all available on Hulu or Netflix) are The Summer I Turned Pretty, The OC, Never Have I Ever, Outer Banks, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, and Gossip Girl.
