Mr. Clegg:
Aaron Clegg is the new physics teacher at PCS. Mr. Clegg teaches Physics, AP Physics 1, and AP Physics C. His favorite class to teach is Physics C because of the high level
math you can do. Throughout his career, Mr. Clegg has worked at a variety of schools, including Cypress High School and Downtown College Prep in San Jose. He was also a tutor for many years in both physics and music, specifically teaching the saxophone and the flute. Mr. Clegg has also worked at the German International School of Scotts Valley teaching physics in German. However, teaching physics at PCS has always been his dream job–in fact, he first applied in 2007! Mr. Clegg’s favorite thing about PCS is the students because they are super motivated, kind, and curious. A fun fact about Mr. Clegg is that he has synesthesia, and for him, numbers, letters, months, and days of the week have specific colors and geometric patterns.
Mr. Leake:
Mr. Leake is the new art teacher at PCS. He’s not new to the school–in fact, he’s a returning staff member! This year, he has dedicated his time to teaching Art 2. Mr. Leake left PCS 3 years ago to become a stay at home dad for his son and he has now returned to PCS to teach again. Before PCS, Mr. Leake taught for 9 years at a private school in Los Altos and at a school in Connecticut prior to that. His favorite thing about PCS is the community, because everyone has a sense of belonging and it is a safe environment for everyone to learn. Mr. Leake originally learned about the school from his wife, who worked with Mr. Garrett’s wife. His experience at PCS has been awesome. Mr. Leake has enjoyed getting to know all the students. He also likes getting to know the other teachers in and outside of the art department. Outside of PCS, he is also a practicing mixed media artist and hosts art shows.
Ms. Doyle:
Ms. Doyle is our new Study Skills and Technology (SSTech) teacher. She loves teaching students skills that they can build upon throughout disciplines and during their academic journey at PCS. She has a background in elementary school education and has worked at Del Mar Elementary in Live Oak as well as Brook Knoll Elementary in Scotts Valley. Her favorite thing about PCS is the students and getting to learn about their varied interests. In fact, she has taken a lot of time getting to know her students, and she thinks that the seventh grade class is very sharp and funny. Additionally, she said the administration and faculty have been extremely kind and supportive. A fun fact about her is that before she became a teacher, she was a certified veterinary technician. She is so excited to be at PCS and can’t wait to see what the year brings!
We will introduce more new staff in the next issue of the Roar!
