The inauguration of Donald J. Trump as president of the United States will be met with excitement for many Americans and disbelief for others.  Several individuals and groups opposed to many of Mr. Trump’s policies, statements, and actions against women and minorities are planning protests in response to them.  Among the most highly publicized is the Women’s March on Washington, which is estimated to draw over 200,000 people the day after the inauguration.  Similar marches are scheduled to take place in the Bay Area and Santa Cruz. Large Women’s Marches will be taking place in San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose on January 21.  These are expected to draw enormous crowds with over 35,000 at the march in San Francisco.  Additional Women’s Marches are planned in smaller cities such as Santa Cruz.  According to the San Jose Mercury News, it is scheduled to start at 1:30 at City Hall and conclude at the Louden Nelson Center.
