One morning this August, I woke up and looked outside. It looked like it was snowing, but it wasn’t. It was raining ash. Overnight, the wildfires had grown closer to our home. I knew we were in no imminent danger but I thought about all the people living in the mountains and how much they would be affected. I took these photos when school had closed. I took these photos to document what the environment looked like during a time when the wildfires were so close. I found it so odd how much ash was raining down, I have never seen anything like it.
